<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">President</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The President will be responsible for
overseeing general club operations, writing agendas for the weekly 
officer
meetings, and leading the officer meetings.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Internal VP</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Internal VP will serve as the backup
“point person” for events, the liaison between BMES and the BioE
department staff, and the person supporting the President in keeping 
people on
track. In addition, the IVP will be the point person for Fall Reception.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">External VP</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The External VP will oversee BMES’
intersocietal relations, attending meetings for collaborative efforts 
(such as
intersocietal events and EJC meetings) and making sure that all clubs 
involved
are on the same page.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Secretary</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Secretary will take minutes at all
officer meetings and compile a more comprehensible summary of weekly 
tasks for
other officers. In addition, the Secretary will handle the e-mail 
listserv,
informing general members of upcoming BMES events and other information.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Treasurer</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Treasurer will compile the annual
budget, handle all monetary reimbursements to club members, and manage 
the BMES
funds provided by EJC and the BioE Department.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Fundraising Chair: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Fundraising Chair will 
organize all fundraising activities
(such as T-shirt sales) and events (such as barbecues). This person will
ideally brainstorm to come up with new, creative ways of raising funds 
for the
club, and will oversee a Fundraising Committee.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Social Chair: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The
Social Chair will plan social events for the club, which will include 
both
intra- and inter-club events, and which will foster good will and 
collaboration
among BMES members. </span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Outreach Chair</span></b><b><span style="font-size:10pt">: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Outreach Chair will manage BMES’
community service and outreach activities, which will chiefly include 
BEAM
(ideally, this person will help run the BEAM de-cal) as well as events 
like the
Berkeley Project an</span><span style="font-size:10pt">d Engineering 4
 Kids
Day (E4K).</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Academic Chair: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Academic Chair will organize 
academic-related events, which
will include events pertaining to grad/med school, Professor Brunches, 
lab
tours, and grad/undergrad student mixers. This person will oversee an 
Academic
Committee to help plan and implement these events.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">Corporate Chair: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black">The Corporate Chair will 
organize professional events such as
career panels, resume workshops, and company infosessions, and will work
 with
BioEHS to plan events under the “BioTech Industry Profiling”
(BioTIP) Committee. This person will oversee a Corporate Committee to 
help plan
and implement these events.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt">Publicity
Chair: </span></b><span style="font-size:10pt">The Publicity Chair will be responsible for building up student interest for club events, which is 
normally
accomplished by such methods as creating and posting fliers around 
campus,
making in-class announcements, and creating Facebook events. This person
 will
oversee a Publicity Committee to help with these activities.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt">Webmaster:</span></b><span style="font-size:10pt"> The role of Webmaster will include keeping the BMES
website maintained and updated with new events and information, as well 
as
pioneering new methods to utilize the internet as a resource for our 
members.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:10pt">Historian:
</span></b><span style="font-size:10pt">The Historian will be responsible for taking lots of pictures at club events and organizing the photo archive 
in a
logical way. The Historian would also compile a brief report on each 
BMES event

During this incredible night, you will have the opportunity to sit down and chat 
with a Bioengineering professor while enjoying a nice formal dinner.

As a group, BMES members and officers will be working together on a
service project that day. Not only will you get a chance to bond with
BMES officers and members, you will also have the opportunity, as a Cal
student, to give back to the community. <br /><br /><b>Berkeley Project 2008 - Sat. Nov. 15, 2008</b><br />The Berkeley Project (BP) is a giant, one-day service
event held on Saturday, November 15th. Over 1000 students gathered from
all over Cal to work together with our community partners at 43 service
project sites all over the City of Berkeley.
We are setting out to permanently change the relationship between the
students and residents of Berkeley. Our ultimate goal is to create a
network of service activities which will a.) serve the needs of
Berkeley and its residents and b.) forge a positive relationship
between the campus and the community. <br /><br /><b>Tentative Schedule from last year: </b><br />8:00 AM          Volunteers arrive for registration and opening ceremonies begin<br />8:30 AM          Depart for sites via public transportation/car<br />9:00 AM          Arrive at sites<br />12:00 PM        Lunch break<br />12:30 PM        Resume work<p style="margin:0px 0px 12px">3:00 PM          Depart sites for closing ceremonies</p>

If you missed the introduction to the Professor Hunt competition in the BioE 24 seminar, you can read about it here and join in too! <br /><br />The goal of this competition is to for you to seek out all the professors and department staff listed in the names bank and get to know them. Go find them, talk to them and see who fits the description given by the three clues that each person has listed about them. Then have them sign off next to their clues.<br /><br />Win prizes in groups of three!<br /><br /> The team who gets the filled form in first to Pamela Reynolds in the BioE office (306 Stanley) will win Ipod Shuffles! While the second and third groups in will win BioEngineering longsleeve shirts or Berkelium/Californium keychains! time to mentor younger students, learn about science education, and
build influential relationships with the mentees.
